NCFE CACHE Level 3 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Early Years Education and Care
What does the qualification cover?
The Level 3 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Early Years Education and Care prepares learners to work with children from birth to 5 years and gain knowledge of children aged 5 to 7 years.
This qualification provides learners with a direct progression route on to the Level 3 Diploma in Early Years Education and Care (Early Years Educator).

Learners wishing to work with children from birth to 5 years in early years settings.
What are our entry requirements?
You should be at least 16 years old.
Other requirements?
N/A this is not a 'full and relevant' EYE qualification.
How is this qualification structured?
This qualification is comprised of Themes 1 and 2 from the Level 3 Diploma in Early Years Education and Care (Early Years Educator) plus one additional unit on reflective practice. There are 12 mandatory units totalling 223 GLH.
How is it assessed?
To gain this qualification the learner will need to:
• pass all 12 mandatory units (internally assessed using a range of assessment methods)
•complete one externally set, externally marked Short Answer Examination.
Assessment opportunities for all the externally set and marked assessment for this qualification will be limited to one attempt and one further reattempt opportunity to undertake an alternative assessment.
Do you need to have access to practical placement?
Learners will need to have access to a real work environment, as they need to show competence in both knowledge and skills.
How long does it take to complete?
This qualification can usually be completed in 1 year.
What related qualifications can you progress to?
This qualification provides a direct progression route onto the Level 3 Diploma in Early Years Education and Care (Early Years Educator). Learners can also progress from this Certificate onto other Early Years Educator qualifications at Level 3.
Which type of job roles can you apply for on completion?
This qualification may enable learners to work under the supervision of Level 3 staff in a variety of roles in an early years setting; however, it does not provide a license to practise.
