Business BTEC Extended Certificate - Level 2

This course is an ideal introduction to business studies. This course will give you a great overview of business for those who want an office-based job or to work in retail. It builds on the skills you already have and introduces you to new aspects of the business world so your future career options become even more interesting. You will also have a work placement to give you real world experience, previously this has been with companies like Tesco, Office Angels and Next. We also run several visits a year to companies, often based in the City, to see the different roles and practices for the organisation - this will help you understand how different business sectors work. Previous visits have included Bank of Tokyo and Red Star Insurance. We also take part in other initiatives as they become available, for example, last year our students took part in a Dragon's Den style event run by Wandsworth Council.

In this course, you will study a variety of business topics including: Business organisations; Financial management; Marketing and sales; Enterprise; Customer service; Business planning - as part of this module you will work in teams to develop a business plan and raise money for a community project; Business communication and information; Recruitment. You will be assessed throughout the year with coursework and exams. After completion of this course, you can continue on to a Level 3 course if you would like to get the entry requirements for university or for better job prospects. You could also take up an Apprenticeship.
