Course description
A Basic Overview of Petrochemicals is an online training course designed to take you through the manufacture of chemical compounds from petroleum and natural gas that create petrochemicals.
There are only nine different compounds that are the basis for all petrochemicals, and these nine are often called the “building blocks” for the petrochemical industry. They can be divided into three categories – olefins, aromatics, and natural gas-based compounds. In this course, we will examine each category in detail.
While this is an introduction to petrochemicals, you should already have some previous knowledge of refining chemistry and the basics of petroleum refining before taking this course.
Practice exercises and self-assessment quizzes are included to help reinforce key topics introduced throughout the course.
