Course description

Clients are keen to pass on their estate to their loved ones during their lifetime, particularly as they are fearful of the cost of social care.

Social services are increasingly looking at whether an adult with social care needs has previously made gifts, with the intention of reducing the amount they will subsequently pay for their care and support needs. In some cases, social services may look back over many years.

This live broadcast session is aimed at all professionals who advise on the making of gifts, particularity where the client is not a high net worth individual, and whose main asset is their home. Presenter Caroline Bielanska will discuss when deliberate deprivation is relevant, and will identify what cannot be treated as deliberate deprivation. You will learn when a deprivation can be inferred, when a gift can be made when already in receipt of care, and much more.
