Training Course Content

Introduction

AI software, including those based on Large Language Models (‘LLMs’) such as ChatGPT are trained by using a large amount of information from across the internet, which often includes copyright works.

This training of AI systems constitutes copyright infringement if copyright works are copied in the process, and/or if the AI system's output is itself a copy of the copyright works.

Rapid advances in AI technology have caused a proliferation of copyright infringement cases against owners of AI systems.

Such cases, alongside the rapid adoption of AI systems across many businesses, will likely alter the law relating to copyright infringement, and possibly cause or accelerate the divergence of UK and EU copyright law following Brexit.

This new virtual classroom seminar will provide practical tips on how to avoid liability for copyright infringement and how to protect copyright works from infringement using AI systems.

Copyright infringement can come with significant financial and reputational consequences if found liable and can lead to the loss of important rights as a rights holder if copyright works are infringed.

The session is suitable for in-house and private practice lawyers working across the IP/commercial/technology sectors.

It will also likely appeal to professionals working in a multitude of businesses/sectors - e.g., AI software developers, businesses utilising AI software, and/or those curious about the rapidly evolving technology and what it might mean for their business/sector.
