Course description
The latest NHS England statistics illustrate that fewer than 47,000 adults in England qualify for fully funded care from the NHS. The paying for care rules continue to be a source of concern for many clients - how a person’s long-term care needs should be funded, and how much they may need to spend in their lifetime.
This virtual classroom seminar is designed for those who want to develop their knowledge about NHS Continuing Health Care (‘NHS CHC’) and other types of NHS funding, but who do not yet have any or much experience in running cases. With the use of case studies and Q&As, this session will enable you to build your confidence in advising clients about NHS CHC as part of the process of giving ‘paying for care advice’, as well as looking at the history of or the theory behind NHS CHC.

Introduction
The paying for care rules continue to be a source of concern for many clients - how a person’s long-term care needs should be funded, and how much they may need to spend in their lifetime.
There have been years of Government promises to reform the social care funding system, but nothing has changed.
There is a lot of misleading media coverage suggesting that everyone in a care home, or everyone with dementia, should have their care paid for by the NHS: but this is not how the paying for care rules work.
The latest NHS England statistics illustrate that fewer than 47,000 adults in England qualify for fully funded care from the NHS.
This new virtual classroom seminar is designed for people who want to develop their knowledge about NHS Continuing Health Care (‘NHS CHC’) and other types of NHS funding, but who do not yet have any or much experience in running cases.
The session will enable participants to build their confidence in advising clients about NHS CHC as part of the process of giving ‘paying for care advice’.
It will involve case studies and lots of time for Q&As but will not look at the history of or the theory behind NHS CHC.
