Fire Safety Awareness CPD Accredited Online Course
This course is designed to give you an overview of:
- proper fire safety practice at work;
- identifying potential fire risks to your service users,
- colleagues and yourself,
- explaining what to do on hearing a fire alarm,
- describing types of fire-fighting equipment and how to use them.
Each health and social care workplace may have slightly different policies, so it is recommended to familiarise yourself with these policies and procedures.

Training Course Content
1 - Introduction and Overview
In section one, you will be shown the effects of fire in the workplace and will also discover the responsibilities that both you and your employer have.
2 - What is Fire?
In section two, we outline the elements that make a fire, as well as the different types of fire and how fires can spread.
3 - Preventing Fire
In section three, you will learn ways of identifying and preventing potential causes of fire.
4 - In the Event of a Fire
In section four, you will see some scenarios. You will then be asked if you can identify anything that might be wrong in these.
5 - Fire Fighting Equipment
In section five, you will learn about the different types of fire extinguishers. You will learn when and how they should be used. You will also be shown how to tackle a fire and when this should be done.
6 - Resources
This section contains links to various sites where you can obtain further information on fire safety in the workplace.
Course delivery details
We estimate that the entire program is likely to take around 2-4 hours to work through initially, but you may want to allow more time to repeat some areas. You should allow an additional 30 minutes for the end of course test.
