Moccasin Manager

LaPD Solutions overarching Emotional Intelligence (EI) based Moccasin Approach® is designed to improve the organisational culture by improving relationships across the whole organisation. The Moccasin Manager® is a part of that objective.
LaPD Solutions created the term the Moccasin Approach® based on the saying "walk a mile in another person's moccasins". This saying is said to be of Native American origin. From our research, it first appeared in a poem called “Judge Softly”, which was written by Mary T. Lathrap in 1895. The poem suggested we should see things from the eyes of others first.
The Moccasin Manager helps your Managers/Team Leaders by focusing on the EI skills they need to manage their people using engagement, motivation and inspiration. Our methods of communication work efficiently and effectively.
Until we learn to health check, monitor and adapt our own behaviours, how can we expect others to modify theirs?
The Moccasin Manager event will help attendees understand how our brains react to emotion, how we can apply the types of empathy to engage with others building collaborative long-lasting and powerful relationships across our teams and the whole organisation.

Suitability - Who should attend?
Suitable for aspiring leaders, managers and all colleagues to improve communication, engagement and culture.
When we say anyone who "leads or manages others". We do not mean only those with the title of "Leader" or "Manager", but all your people. Each of us leads and manages others unconsciously during our working week and those who do not fully understand the Moccasin Approach may struggle with the concept if they have not been emersed in it.
If you want your aspiring talent to be ready to step into leadership or management, then give them the skills to prepare them so that they can practice and hit the ground running as and when they take up those positions.
Training Course Content
Included within this topic is:
- An EI self-assessment.
- The ingredients of Emotional Intelligence (EI).
- The power of "true" authenticity (this can be very challenging).
- Managing others in the same fair and respectful manner.
- Understanding the different types of empathy and why we MUST use all of them.
- Consistent, Approachable, Reasonable, Introspective, Neutral, Genuine (CARING).
- The Self Fulfilling Prophecy.
- Style flexing and Situational Leadership.
- Balancing EI and business needs.
The 2-day option includes further exploration of scenarios to work on in 3s, development of our own personal EI and discussion so everyone gains a fuller appreciation of the workings and power of EI.
Course delivery details
We offer both classroom/Face to Face (F2F) and online (Zoom) options.
Our (F2F) option can be facilitated at your organisation or at a venue booked by you for that day.
Our online sessions are facilitated through Zoom. They are converted from a one-day classroom-style event into a series of interactive Zoom sessions totalling 8 online hours.
Each Zoom session can be planned to last 2, 3 or 4 hours (4 is our maximum duration).
All our sessions come with direct post-event support.
