Course description
This course will cover the basic principles of paper folding and you will learn all the necessary techniques and processes required to create a range of simple to complex geometric folded structures. It is suitable for anyone interested in three-dimensional form and working with paper as a base material.
You will be introduced to a brief history of folding and the work of several contemporary paper and origami artists to examine how folding is used in architecture and other disciplines.
Paper will be our main material during the course, but we will also look at the various processes of applying your designs to fabric and ceramics. You will be given the opportunity to experiment, explore and create your own designs and make some finished functional and decorative interior products.
On completing the course, you will be equipped with the skills and confidence to continue to fold independently and be able apply your newly acquired skills to your own practice.
