Course description
This qualification is designed for a wide range of learners aged 16 and above who wish to gain a comprehensive understanding of the care and management of diabetes.
It aims to provide learners with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively support individuals with diabetes.
The qualification covers various aspects related to diabetes, including different types of diabetes and their causes, the role of lifestyle changes in delaying the onset of Type 2 diabetes, diagnosis and initial care of diabetes, and the ongoing treatment and management of diabetes to control blood sugar levels.

- Learners must be 16+
- Resident in the UK/EU for 3+ years, for purposes other than to study
- Must not be already on an apprenticeship

Training Course Content
To achieve the Level 2 Certificate in Understanding the Care and Management of Diabetes, learners are required to successfully complete four mandatory units. These units cover topics such as
- understanding diabetes,
- prevention and early intervention of Type 2 diabetes,
- the initial care of diabetes,
- and the treatment and management of diabetes.
By completing this qualification, learners will develop a strong foundation of knowledge and skills that can be applied in various healthcare and support settings to provide effective care for individuals with diabetes.
