Course description
This course will prepare students for transition from the Supported Learning provision to mainstream vocational areas. Learners will benefit from the wrap-around support of a specialist team within the department where they will complete their English and Maths qualifications in addition to building on existing skills and achieving new targets. They will infill into the practical sessions within mainstream vocational subjects. Personal learning programmes are designed to suit the learner in their progression. Extra support provided for learners to achieve the recommended level of English and Maths to enable progression. Helping students develop the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to manage life and future opportunities.
On completion students progress to At College: Level 1 Vocational Progression, Supported Internship. Outside College: Employment and/or Voluntary Work and/or Other Study. Students will be expected to complete a work experience placement of either 1 or 2 days a week with selected local employers. In addition, they will develop the vocationally specific skills demanded in the workplace.

Suitability - Who should attend?
An interest in developing progression within a mainstream vocational area, along with completion of Entry Level 3 qualifications. Need to have a commitment to completing the course. Suitability for the programme will be assessed both before joining and during the first six weeks of the course.
