Course description
This course gives you the opportunity to work for an employer, earn a salary and at the same time study to gain a nationally recognised qualification whilst gaining valuable workplace skills and experience. This course covers: Apprentice Induction General Requirements and Employment Rights & Responsibilities; Functional Skills (English, Mathematics and ICT) at Level 1; VRQ (Technical Certificate), Health and Safety, Technology and workshop tasks; NVQ/VCQ, Practical tasks at work (Job Cards), Changing and Rectifying Faults. Candidates are assessed during practical 'on the job' or simulated situations, evidence of which must be shown in the form of a portfolio. Assessment will be continuous and students are required to demonstrate competence in a variety of tasks. Functional Skills will be assessed by examination and VRQ by online multi-choice examinations. Advanced Apprenticeship (Level 3) providing suitable employment is available.

Suitability - Who should attend?
Students need to have four GCSEs grade C/4 including Mathematics, Science and English Language together with time served in the motor industry or completed a Level 2 Apprenticeship in Motor Vehicle Maintenance, Service and Repair. All applicants must be employed within the motor trade.
