Course description
Apprenticeships give you the opportunity to work for an employer, earn a salary and at the same time study to achieve a nationally recognised qualification whilst gaining valuable workplace skills and experience. Apprenticeships are flexible and are designed to offer a structured programme of learning to fit around the needs of the individual and the employer.
This Apprenticeship provides the skills, knowledge and competence required to work within a laboratory. A laboratory technician may carry out both routine and one-off laboratory testing and perform a variety of technical support functions across the organisation. Laboratory technicians are expected to work both individually and as part of a laboratory team. They are able to work with minimum supervision, taking responsibility for the quality and accuracy of the work that is undertaken.
- Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma Applied Science;
- Working Safely Unit;
- End-Point Assessment which includes a synoptic assessment test in the workplace, vocational competence discussion and case study completion.
On successful completion of this course students can progress to undergraduate courses such as a Foundation Degree or HNC.
