About This Course
This one-day qualification is a joint collaboration between NEBOSH and UK’s Health and Safety Regulator, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). It is designed for senior business leaders or aspiring leaders who wish to improve their capability in health and safety leadership.
It highlights the moral, legal and financial reasons for good health and safety leadership. It offers guidance on the key areas to focus on to make a difference and how leaders can become better advocates and influencers in relation to health and safety; which will directly impact on the health and safety performance and culture in their workplace.

QUALIFICATION STRUCTURE
The Certificate in Health and Safety Leadership Excellence is made up of one unit:
Unit HSL1: Health and safety leadership
- Unit HSL1 is a taught unit, assessed by an on the day assessment which includes a leadership intervention that the participant is planning to undertake.
ASSESSMENT AND CERTIFICATION
The assessment will be in the form of reflective statements undertaken throughout the course. These show how the participant’s knowledge, skill and behaviours may have both positive and negative effects on health and safety performance in their organisation.
Participants will also need to make a commitment to a leadership intervention that will improve health and safety management within their sphere of influence at work.
Participants must achieve a 'Pass' in Unit HSL1 to pass the qualification and will be awarded with NEBOSH HSE Certificate in Health and Safety Leadership Excellence certificate issued by NEBOSH.
