IMCA - Assistant Life Support Technician - 9-Day Course
The ALST training is the fundamental course for new entrants to the IMCA Life Support Technician, equip personnel with the necessary skills to control the chamber environment and having the knowledge of physics, physiology and medical aspects so as to support divers in high pressure environments.
This course is the IMCA pre-requisite to becoming a qualified Life Support Technician.
Before being permitted to sit the IMCA examination, all candidates must have attended and passed theAssistant Life Support Technician courseor be a qualified Bell Diver and then logged the necessary experience (go offshore and log a minimum of 2,400 panels hours as an ALST) in accordance with the IMCA career structure. Practical experience gained prior to the course does not count.

Suitability - Who should attend?
This course is suitable for professionals seeking to become Assistant Life Support Technicians (ALST). Qualified delegates come from a variety of backgrounds, such as highly-skilled technicians from non-related industries, qualified nurses, former divers and more.
This course is a prerequisite to becoming a qualified Life Support Technician.
Prerequisites
There are no formal prerequisites for this course, but a basic understanding of Mathematics and good English proficiency is needed. Those who will be working offshore must pass a special 'Top-Side' medical examination. Specific requirements may vary between countries.

Training Course Content
This training course will cover all the information that is needed to effectively support diving staff. This includes a review of the physics, physiology and medical aspects of supervising and supporting people in high-pressure environments. Relevant equipment will also be included.
