The Institute of Innovation and Knowledge Exchange (IKE) is the UK's professional body for innovators. IKE accredits and certifies innovation practices, and influences the inter-relationship between education, business, and government through research and collaborative networks. Their Innovation Manifesto highlights a long-term commitment to support the development of innovative people and organisations.

The Innovation Institute’s work is guided by the Innovation Council, which brings together senior business leaders representing different economic sectors. IKE runs think-tanks, conducts research studies, develops new business models and tools, and supports organisations to benchmark their strategies and develop their innovation capabilities.

IKE recognises the central role that individuals play in establishing and advancing innovative practices within organisations, and therefore makes training and development a central part of its activities. This translates into a number of certification and accreditation standards including:

• Investor in Innovations Standard® – used by organisations to evaluate and benchmark their innovation capability and create a coherent innovation strategy that delivers value. Large companies, Universities and Colleges use Investor in Innovations to deliver impact from innovation.  
  
  
• IKE Assured®: Innovation & Knowledge Exchange Skills Accreditation - used by organisations looking to demonstrate the role of innovation skills and competencies within their internal L&D programmes. Large companies, Universities and Colleges use IKE Assured to build innovation skills and competencies in their programmes.
  
  
• NEF Assured & L&D Assured® - used by organisations to assure the quality of Learning, Training & Development (focuses on science, engineering and technology based companies). As an example, all the UK Nuclear sites, engineering and construction companies have been through this assurance programme.
