Occasional Industrial Climber (MOD 3)
Occasional Industrial Climber (MOD 3) training course
This Occasional Industrial Climber course is designed for professionals who need to develop their knowledge of how to create and maintain a safe working environment when working at height on access towers and similar structures.
The half-day programme focuses on the specific equipment, fall arrest systems and hazards associated with using pre-installed access systems on masts. It begins by covering the theoretical aspects, illustrating the permanently installed guided type fall arrest systems used for mast and tower access, as well as potential dangers and bad practices. It then goes on to describe alternative work positioning techniques and the principles of appropriate equipment selection & rescue techniques. The dangers of working at height are also explored in depth.
On the practical side of things, the course will give participants the opportunity to practise climbing using a number of different Personal Fall Protection equipment and systems, including full body harnesses and fall arrest blocks. In addition, they will get the chance to try their hand at using a temporary horizontal anchor-line system.
By the end of the course, they will thus have the competence needed to carry out pre-use checks and make safe, effective use of pre-installed access systems.
