Course description
This course will suit those amongst you who have no previous knowledge of Polish. The language learnt will be that used in real life situations, both written and spoken. There will be a wide range of materials used with lots of exercises. Students will be encouraged to practise between lessons. By the end of the course you will have practised: Greetings and farewells; Introducing yourself; Talking about how you feel; Polish numbers and prices: How much is it?; Giving contact details: address, phone number, country of origin, post code, tax reference no, car no.; Nouns, names and questions: who/what is it?; Describing character and appearance; Describing objects and their features; Talking about aspects of Polish geography and culture; Stating nationality; Pronunciation. You will also have learnt aspects of Polish grammar, including: The Polish alphabet, Polish speech sounds and pronunciation rules, Cardinal Numerals (1-29), The verb system – introduction to conjugation type - m, - sz, Grammatical Cases - introduction to declensions (nouns, adjectives, pronouns). Nominative and Instrumental cases, Gender and number categories, the various language registers: official, unofficial, universal.
