Course description
This course is suitable for those who have already studied French for two years, or for those who know basic French. Instruction is given in French, using visual and audio supports. The course aims to develop the skills of speaking, reading, listening and writing in French. It enables students to understand native French speakers and helps them communicate in practical situations. By the end of this block of 10 weeks, you will have been given the opportunity to improve both your accuracy and your fluency in French. In particular you will be able to: understand a radio interview and the news on TV, understand and debate the following topics: media, new technologies and social networks, understand extracts from a novel and a film, discuss the topics of children’s education, family relationships and traditional family occasions, friendships, marriage, understand a poem, write a letter, discuss the topics of tourism, travel and transports, write emails and a short article on the topic of travel. You will also have covered the following main grammar points: the passive form, expressing aims and objectives, the negative forms, comparatives and superlatives, expressing opposition and concession, expressing certainty and doubt, the pluperfect, expressing time ( for, since, during..).
