Course description
This is a course for those with previous knowledge of the French language who wish to practise their oral, listening, reading and writing skills at a more sustained level. This course is designed for advanced learners who have a good command of the French language. During this course, you will improve your fluency and consolidate your understanding of French grammar and syntax. The emphasis of the course is to increase confidence in expressing opinions through speaking and writing. The course will be structured around different topical issues using a wide range of media which will give you considerable insights into French culture. Each week a theme will be used as a focus, so by the end the module you will have been given the opportunity to: discuss and respond in French on different issues; manipulate the language accurately and choose appropriate structures; develop confidence in both expression and vocabulary; develop reading and writing skills; learn more about French literature and French history. The main themes include: French cultural society;French literature (introduction to poems from Baudelaire); dictations etc. You will also revise the following aspects of grammar: Imperfect, Subjunctive present and past, Relative pronouns, Conditional perfect with pluperfect.
