Course description
Fundamentals of Economics and Financial Markets
The course starts by isolating how the global financial market are structured and how this structure services both borrowers and investors. Asset classes for investor funds are reviewed before the focus turns to the macroeconomic environment. The principles underlying policy making are discussed, along with macroeconomic theories where necessary. The key role played by Central Banks is studied and monetary tools detailed. During the second day, the focus turns to a business cycle model of investment as participants are encouraged to bring their knowledge into the reality of investing. Economic data calendars are studied along with current prices of key assets. During the final session behavioral finance theories are discussed.

This course is based at those for whom finance and financial markets is new. No pre-knowledge is assumed as the course starts at first principles.
