Course description

The day of lectures will be case-based, looking at the various presentations of the dyspnoeic dog. Suitable for nurses of all levels, this will be a comprehensive day investigating some of the more common causes of dyspnoea, such as neoplasia, heart failure, laryngeal paralysis, tracheal collapse, and lungworm. Starting with emergency admission and triage, to stabilisation and diagnosis, it will conclude with long-term management, comprehensively covering nursing care and possible diagnostic tests required. Time will be spent on electrocardiography (ECG) interpretation, with particular emphasis on life threatening arrhythmias – this section will be interactive.
