Course description
Designed for nurses who want to improve their understanding and enhance their care for patients with gastrointestinal tract disease. This course appreciates that the nurse’s role is diverse and requires understanding of the pathophysiology, diagnostic and therapeutic processes to allow delivery of effective nursing care.
Specific areas to be covered:
- Pathophysiology and diseases of the gastrointestinal system
- Approach to the investigation of GI diseases
- Gastrointestinal imaging and endoscopy
- Critical care of patients with GI disease (therapeutics, feeding methods, nutritional support, pain and emesis management)
