Course description
There have been many advances in veterinary nutrition in the last ten years. Multiple new diets, the new era of metabolomics, better understanding of the gastrointestinal microbiome and the mapping of the canine and feline genome have changed the landscape of nutrition. This day will be ideal for anyone with an interest in clinical nutrition, but especially those that want to update their knowledge.
Specific areas to be covered
- Nutragenomics, looking at how certain nutrients have been found to change the effect of gene expression: e.g. omega-3 fatty acids in inflammation
- Dietary management of hyperthyroid cases
- Changes in nutritional calculations, removal of illness factors and implementing of nutritional assessments
