Course description
Do you want to understand more about domestic abuse?
Our Understanding Domestic Abuse course is suitable for anyone who has a responsibility to respond to domestic abuse or support those experiencing domestic abuse. This includes employers, teachers, health and social care workers, and anyone involved in safeguarding vulnerable adults, children, or young people. Raising awareness about domestic abuse benefits individuals, businesses, and organisations. Physical abuse is often perceived as much worse since people can end up with physical wounds. Emotional abuse can be equally damaging and, in some cases, worse. It is important to understand and raise awareness of all types of domestic violence and abuse.
1 in 5 adults experience domestic abuse during their lifetime which equates to 1 in 4 woman and 1 in 6/7 men. In 2022, 2.4 million adults were victims of domestic abuse and its estimated only 24% of domestic abuse crimes are reported to the police!
