This course will introduce you to the basic principles of water treatment from source abstraction, impurities in water, physical and chemical methods involved in water treatment to remove the impurities, and associated flow processes in the treatment.

- Classification significance and concentration ranges of impurities in water including: suspended and dissolved solids, organic and inorganic compounds, trace contaminants, pathogens,
- Physical methods for removing particulates: clarification, filtration,
- Chemical dosing, including precipitation; coagulation and flocculation; disinfection and chemical oxidation,
- Examples of flow sheets and unit operations in treatment plants.
