Web Programming using PHP/MySQL Part 2

This course builds on the teachings of Web Development using PHP part 1, introducing MySQL, a relational database management system developed by Oracle and based on the industry standard structured query language (SQL), and shows how to integrate it into a web application build using a PHP back end.

Combining PHP and MySQL allows developers to store create, read, update, and delete (CRUD) data using web forms. Uses include log in systems (user data - usernames, passwords, etc), customer/employee data (name, email, phone, address, etc) and ecommerce (shopping carts, payment systems, orders, etc).

By the end of the course, you will be able to:

• Create a single point of entry website
• Use MySQL workbench software
• Create database tables
• Read, write, update and delete data in databases
• Query databases to retrieve specific data
• Create a log in system for a website
• Validate new users using email confirmation
• Restrict certain website content dependant on user credentials
• Write basic Object Orientated PHP and MySQL queries.

This advanced short course is ideal for those who have successfully completed the Web Programming with PHP Part 1 or have good PHP skills. You will require HTML authoring skills ideally through completion of our introductory web authoring course Building Websites with HTML5 and CSS3.
