This course will broaden your awareness of risk management and the leading approaches taken in the corporate environment. It draws on experience from the leading organisations and institutes that City is well connected to.
You’ll learn how to apply the approaches and methods that you’re taught, as well as developing an understanding of the benefits of good risk management in organisations of any size and in any industry.

This risk management course is for anyone who wants to learn more about risk management and how it’s carried out in modern organisations. It’s suitable for risk management professionals, as well as other managers and executives who need to manage risk as part of their role.
Eligibility
No prior knowledge of risk management is required to enrol on this course, however, we do ask that you have a genuine interest in the subject.
You should be proficient in written and spoken English to keep up with learning in class.

You will need a good level of spoken and written English to enrol on this course.

There’s no formal assessment for this risk management short course, but you will receive a certificate of completion.
By the end of this course, you'll be able to:

We teach best practice for risk management, incorporating the latest developments in the discipline from the world's leading business and financial organisations.
Risk management is a constantly developing field and one that's at the heart of good governance and management practice. This short course will introduce you to the main concepts embedded in risk management, as well as emerging areas that you need to be aware of, such as cyber threats.
The course content includes:
- Skills in risk identification, quantification and control
- Wide range of techniques and approaches to assessing and controlling risk
- How to deal with major risks and extreme events
- Special approaches required for major projects, risk to reputation, outsourcing and cyber threats
- Understanding how risk management needs to be organised in a firm or public sector body
- How to work and communicate with the board, directors and managers on major risk issues to assist with decision making.
Course delivery details
This course takes place for two hours from 18:30 to 20:30 pm every Wednesday evening for 10 weeks.
