Major Event Management
By exploring how major events are organised and managed, you’ll learn best-practice approaches to organising your own live events - whatever their size. Our industry experts will explain how to prepare, organise and run a successful event.
This introductory Event Management short course is designed to help you organise and manage live events ranging from music, sports and charity events to exhibitions, conferences and corporate events.
Liam Devine has more than 20 years’ experience of live event management, organising everything from tours for the likes of Elton John and Oasis, to being part of the team responsible for Reading Festival in 2018. Tap into his wealth of knowledge and discover how to apply best practice events management techniques to your events.
As the course is taught on weekday evenings in Central London, you can easily fit your learning in around other commitments.

Suitability - Who should attend?
Our Events Management course is for event organizers, or anyone wanting or needing to arrange events. These can be events of any size and type. You might already be working in one aspect of event management and want to gain an understanding of other elements of the process.
Eligibility:
Prior knowledge: You don't need any prior knowledge of event management for this course. You simply need an interest in the topic.
English requirements:
You will need a good level of spoken and written English to enroll on this course.

- Write a risk management plan
- Plan a production schedule
- Plan an advertising schedule
- Create a strategic event plan
- Understand the most common contracts associated with live events.
Training Course Content
This event management evening course will teach you how to work on and manage live events of all types and sizes. Whether you're organising a charity event for 30 people, or a concert for 30,000 people, you'll develop the skills and knowledge you need on this course.
Liam brings his decades of experience in live event management to the classroom, introducing you to case studies from his own career of organising and managing major events and tours.
This event management course covers all kinds of live events and will teach you about the different jobs people do within the events industry, including in marketing, finance, operations, production and legal.
By exploring the way in which major events are organised, you'll cover every aspect of the process. The aim of this course is to give you examples that you can apply to the events you're organising, whatever their size or setting.
The course content includes:
- Strategic planning
- Marketing, advertising and promotion
- Financial control, including budgeting, the costing process, sourcing quotes, setting prices and revenue generation (e.g. ticket sales, food and drink sales, merchandise)
- Sponsorship
- Staging and event design
- Logistics, including production schedules
- Event operations
- Legal context, including venue and artist contracts, health and safety and risk management.
Course delivery details
This course runs on either a Tuesday or Wednesday evening. You'll attend one, two and a half our session each week for ten weeks from18:30 to 21:00 pm.
