Korean Beginners (Full Syllabus)
Communicate confidently with our three-part Korean beginners course. Delve deep into the Korean language and culture and improve your understanding over one year.
Join our Korean beginners course for a comprehensive introduction to this captivating language.
Over 30-weekly evening classes, you’ll master the basics of reading, writing and speaking Korean. We’ll introduce you to the Korean alphabet, Hangul, and basic grammar, including adjectives, the SOV sentence structure (subject, object verb) and everyday verbs in past and present tense.
Much of what you learn will focus on practical and real-life situations, from greetings and introductions to discussing past experiences or events. You’ll also explore aspects of Korean culture and etiquette.
We’ve designed our lessons to be interactive and informal and you’ll get plenty of practice by working in small groups. Start learning with these enjoyable evening classes.

Eligibility
No experience needed – complete beginners should start here.
Do you have a little experience? Skip the very basics and enrol onto part 2 or part 3 of the Korean Beginners course.
English requirements
You will need a good level of spoken and written English to enrol on this course.
Outcome / Qualification etc.
You will be awarded an official City, University of London certificate on completion of the course if you attend over 70 per cent of the classes. The course is not formally accredited.

- talk about weekly activities and past experiences
- talk about the weather and seasons
- make suggestions about leisure activities

- talk about travel experiences.

- informal and formal style present tense verbs
- verb “o have/do not have”
- subject + object + verb sentence structure
- subject, object and location markers
- negatives 안
- location marker 에 (Static location)

- counting unit used with numbers
