Fundamentals of Communication
Understand how communication is a process involving a sender, a message, and a receiver. You’ll then learn why communication can fail if that process breaks down. Learn why great communication skills matter to your professional success. We’ll start by examining the characteristics that define a great communicator.
Then, we’ll explore how these qualities can help you excel in the workplace. Understand five of the most common communication barriers and explaining how to best avoid and overcome them as both senders and receivers of messages.
Effective Meetings
Discover the five steps to running meetings that are more efficient, more constructive, and more engaging for you and your team. Develop an effective agenda that will give your team clarity, focus, and alignment. Understand the conditions and steps involved in cultivating consensus as well as four strategies for reaching consensus faster. Reasons why conflicts arise and six strategies for resolving them.
Verbal Communication
The importance of verbal communication and how it’s used in the workplace. We’ll then give five tips to improve your verbal communication skills. Improve your communication skills by rectifying and clarifying. We’ll look at why these techniques are important, and we’ll describe how to use them effectively as speakers and as listeners.
Writing Skills
Explore how you can write with purpose. You’ll learn why professional communication should have a purpose, how to identify that purpose, and finally, how to write your own informative, persuasive, or goodwill message. Benefits of keeping your writing structured, and how to lay out your introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion most effectively. Explore the rules of grammar, spelling, punctuation and understand the most common writing mistakes and explain how to avoid them.
Communicating with Empathy
Understand how empathy fuels successful conversations. We outline how to communicate with empathy, and we list three statements to avoid when offering support. What is an empathy roadblock, and list some of the most common ones. Then, we’ll propose four solutions for overcoming these roadblocks.
