NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Wood Occupations has been designed for highly experienced Carpenters in the built environment.
This qualification gives you the opportunity to demonstrate your advanced carpentry expertise, skills, knowledge, and competence in the construction industry, without attending to any formal training in classrooms or workshop settings.

NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Wood Occupations – Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification, however, associated extensive experienced in carpentry within the construction sector is essential to achieving this qualification.
Prospective candidates must be able to demonstrate they can meet the requirements of this qualification before registration through our Initial Assessment process.
Training Course Content
Mandatory Units Group (All units must be completed)
- Confirming Work Activities and Resources for an Occupational Area in the Workplace
- Developing and Maintaining Good Occupational Working Relationships in the Workplace
- Confirming the Occupational Method of Work in the Workplace
- Confirming the General Health, Safety and Welfare in the Workplace
- Installing Bespoke First Fixing Components in the Workplace
- Installing Bespoke Second Fixing Components in the Workplace
- Setting Up and Using Transportable Cutting and Shaping Machines in the Workplace (Unit Endorsements):
3 from the following endorsements are required for cutting machines:
- Saw (Three of the following endorsements are required): Circular, Chop, Mitre, Bench or Table, Jig, Reciprocating, Oscillator, Drill, Planner, Biscuit Jointer, Disc Cutter, Morticer
2 from the following endorsements are required for shaping machines:
- Thicknesser, Sander (Orbital, Belt, Disc), Router, Planner or Laminate Trimmer

- Erecting Structural Carcassing Components in the Workplace
- Maintaining Non-Structural or Structural Components in the Workplace
- Erecting Roof Structure Carcassing Components in the Workplace

Course delivery details
Duration
Registered candidates will enjoy our dedicated assessor support for a period of 6 months for qualifications at levels 2 – 5, and up to 12 months for qualifications levels 6 – 7. However, most candidates complete this programme within 2-4 months, depending on the motivation and availability of the learner.
How to achieve
Your assessment will be carried out via on-site assessment at your workplace, on a live site by one of our specialist NVQ Assessor(s). The number of the site visits and interactions with your allocated assessor depends on your motivation, availability, and experience.
The entire process will be coordinated by using a variety of communication methods and evidence collection processes, to suit the individual learner needs.
Successful candidates will also be awarded a Gold CSCS Card for Advanced Craftspersons at the end of their programme with us.
