Course description

NCFE CACHE Level 3 Technical Award/Certificate/Diploma in Childcare and Education (Early Years Educator):

This Cache Level 3 course, allows learners to progress from the Award to the Diploma, in three stages. The CACHE Technical Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education (Early Years Educator) prepares learners to become Early Years Educators, enabling them to work with children from birth to 5 years and gain knowledge of children aged 5 to 7 years.

Course Content and Job Skills

Some of the units covered:

Child development from conception to seven years
Children’s health and well-being
Providing safe environments for children
Play and learning
Understanding children’s additional needs
Observation, assessment and planning
Supporting emergent literacy
Child health

Learners must achieve:

All assignments and gain at least a pass.

Assessment

In order to achieve the Level 3 Award in Childcare and Education learners must achieve a pass grade for 2 mandatory units.

In order to achieve the Technical Level 3 Certificate in Childcare and Education learners must achieve a pass grade D/3 in the externally set, internally assessed unit assessments for 7 mandatory units. Learners must also achieve a pass grade D/3 or above for the external assessment CCE1 (externally set, externally assessed).

In order to achieve the Technical Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education (Early Years Educator) learners must achieve a pass grade in the externally set, internally assessed unit assessments for 14 mandatory units.

Learners must also achieve a pass grade D/3 or above for the external assessments CCE1 and DCE2 (externally set, externally assessment).

CACHE suggests that the following placement allocation is applied.

We acknowledge that some learners may need to spend longer in specific age ranges and for this reason there is a degree of flexibility. All assessment criteria must be achieved and each age range must be experienced. Significant placement experience across the age ranges must be undertaken in order to achieve the assessment.

Progression

Upon achievement of this qualification it is intended that learners will be able to access higher education or enter the workforce as Early Years Educators. This qualification confers the licence to practice as an Early Years Educator.
