Course description
EFL students will take classes alongside ESOL students, meaning you will benefit from mixed classes with students from various countries but with a shared goal to improve your English.
These classes develop independent learning skills, analytical and critical thinking, academic communication, confidence in using English in your field and strategies for entry to Higher Education or employment.

Suitability - Who should attend?
Learners who wish to improve their level of English. Minimum age is 14 years for groups with team leaders. Minimum age is 16 years for individuals.
You will take a placement test on arrival which covers grammar, writing, listening and speaking. The result of the test will determine the level at which you start, but the level at which you finish will depend on how long you are staying and how hard you study.
This course is for you if you are an international student that doesn't currently live and study in the UK. If you are a UK resident then you should look at the ESOL course.
Outcome / Qualification etc.
- Dictionary and study skills so that you can continue to learn after you have finished your class
- Pronunciation skills (reading and understanding sounds so you can pronounce known words and new words correctly)
- British culture and way of life
- Exam skills
- Work-related topics (for example, understanding job adverts, where to look for work, volunteering) and skills (cv writing, presentation skills, interpersonal skills)
- Oral presentation skills.
