Course description
This course is for adult students aged 19 or over who do not have an A*- C in GCSE English. From September 2016 we will be delivering the new GCSE English (9-1) The new English GCSE will provide you with an opportunity to read a greater range of high quality, challenging literature and non-fiction text from a range of genres and types (from the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries). The English Language GCSE will have a greater focus on making sure that you are able to write clearly and accurately, in good Standard English. The GCSE English syllabus can divided into three areas, which you will spend time studying in class, as well as during self-directed study: 1. Reading 2. Writing 3. Speaking and Listening

Suitability - Who should attend?
If you already have GCSE grade D or Level 2 Functional Skills certificate in English, you will be able to enrol on this course. However, we know that many will not have these qualifications, but this will not prevent you from joining our GCSE Adult courses. If you do not have the above qualification, you will sit an Initial Assessment to check if this is the right course for you.
