Course description
This Cybersecurity for beginners course will provide you with an introduction to a career working in cyber security, with a particular focus on understanding the terminology used in the industry, the legal aspects of cybersecurity and the most common threats to be aware of.
During this accredited online course, you’ll gain relevant and valuable new skills, as well as three accredited Level 2 qualifications to boost your employability.
We’ll also support you into relevant progression routes such as apprenticeships, skills bootcamps and introduce you to employment opportunities after you’ve completed the course.
This free cyber security course is full-time during weekdays for 19 days, and will be delivered in a virtual classroom, so you will need access to a laptop/computer with an internet connection to complete the course.

Training Course Content
Introduction to Cyber Security
In this unit, you will gain an understanding of the need for cybersecurity and the impact of cybercrime. You will also learn about the various job functions in the sector and the related key skill requirements.
Understanding Terminology
You will gain an understanding of different cybersecurity terminologies, and be introduced to the concept of social engineering.
Legal and Ethical Aspects of Cyber Security
In this unit, you will learn the key legislation related to cybersecurity and how to maintain data confidentiality and security. You will also understand ethical and unethical conduct within cybersecurity.
Common Threats
You will develop an understanding of malicious software and the ways in which a system can be infected. You will also be introduced to common and emerging threats, as well as physical threats to cybersecurity.
Methds of Maintaining Cyber Security
You will understand the preventative methods used to maintain cybersecurity, including the principles of user access control and the use of firewalls.
Working With Others in Cyber Security
In this final unit, you will learn about team working and the use of interpersonal skills and communication when working in a cybersecurity role.
