Course description
This Level 2 Introduction to Coding course is designed to teach you the basic principles and practices of coding using Python, to accelerate your skills and prepare you for a career in this industry.
Our expert tutors will introduce you to coding and computer programming fundamentals, while exploring new and emerging digital technologies.
As part of the course, you’ll complete several units that cover a wide range of skills and computer programming principles, with three industry accredited qualifications awarded on completion.
The course is delivered in a virtual classroom, so you will need access to a laptop/computer with an internet connection to complete the course.
On completion of the course, you’ll receive an industry-recognised Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Coding, as well as awards in Computer Programming and Digital & IT Skills, and be supported onto suitable progression routes.

Training Course Content
The Principles of Coding
This first unit will introduce you to the basic principles of coding, where you’ll learn about coding languages, possible job functions and the lifecycle of software development.
Terminology Used in Coding
This unit is designed to introduce you to the basic computer terminology that is used in coding, including acronyms and the key principles when writing code.
Coding Design Principles
This next unit will focus on the different coding types and introduce you to understanding what is meant by compiled and interpreted code, as well as pure function and parallelisation.
The Process and Practice of Coding
This unit will explore the principles of coding best practice, and introduce you to the methods of testing code, DevOps processes and the importance of robust coding.
Communication and Project Management in Coding
This final unit will help you to understand basic project management methods such as waterfall, lean, agile and scrum, as well as covering the importance of effective communication.
