Course description
Civil 3D Essentials - live online training
3-day live online course for beginners, teaching techniques for civil design, transportation work, land planning and development.
Live online training lets you participate in a real course from your place of work or home.
This Civil 3D course teaches the fundamental features of Civil 3D, including techniques for civil design, transportation work, land planning and development. The topics covered include:
- Working with point data.
- Surface modelling.
- Developing sites.
- Modelling roads, corridors and pipe networks.
- Data sharing, presentation and visualisations.
Our approach to live online training
We do everything possible to make your experience as close as possible to actually being in the classroom…
- You’ll see and hear your trainer and the other delegates, and be able to view your trainer’s screen. Your trainer and the other delegates will see and hear you.
- You'll receive the same training guide as in-class delegates. Choose from a printed copy that we’ll post to you, or PDF.
- Your training is hands-on: you’ll practice and carry out exercises throughout. We’ll make the course files and resources you’ll use available for you to download.
- If you need assistance, you can share your screen with your trainer, and pass control to them.
- If you don’t have a current subscription to the software, you’re entitled to a 30-day trial that’s ideal for participating in training. We’ll send you a link to this. If you’ve already used your trial, we can lend you a license for the duration of your course.
When you attend live online training, you’re participating in a real course, hosted by a real trainer, in real time.

Course information
Civil 3D version
Training is based primarily on Civil 3D 2024, with the UKIE country kit installed. Most of the techniques taught are relevant to users of Civil 3D versions 2020 and later.
Please note: significant changes were made to Civil 3D in version 2022.1, released in November 2021, affecting the Corridor Creation and Target Mapping functionality. If you’re using a version of Civil 3D prior to 2022.1, you’ll have to observe the affected sessions without actively participating.
Suitability - Who should attend?
This Civil 3D Essentials training is ideal for:
- Civil Engineers
- Land Planners
- Surveyors
Pre-requisites
Delegates must have a working knowledge of an Autodesk CAD application, such as AutoCAD or Revit. If you don't have this knowledge, we recommend you attending AutoCAD Essentials training first.
Delegates MUST have a stable internet connection, and access to a computer running Civil 3D to use throughout the training. If this is not installed on the machine, Armada can provide details of trial software to download and use.
Outcome / Qualification etc.
Autodesk e-certificate
Armada is an Autodesk authorised Training Centre (ATC), and the Civil 3D Essentials course is accredited by Autodesk. Delegates receive an industry recognised e-certificate from Autodesk to confirm they have attended and successfully completed an accredited Civil 3D training course.
