Course description
The Level 3 Diploma in Sport and Physical Activity (Sports Coaching) is designed to give you the practical skills, scientific knowledge and in-depth understanding you'll need for a successful and rewarding career in the sport and physical activity sector.
This course can increase your professional accreditation for progressing directly to employment, or can provide the perfect platform for advancement on to further training, Higher Education, and BSc (Hons) study.
With our excellent sports facilities (free to use for our learners), fully-qualified sports instructors, expert tutors, and our highly-successful sports teams, we have the perfect environment for you to learn about this industry. You'll also have the opportunity to experience working with local primary and junior schools to facilitate coaching sessions.

Suitability - Who should attend?
Five GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, including maths and English; or a Sports or Science Level 2 Diploma with merit or higher and Functional Skills at Level 2 in maths and English.
Training Course Content
You will study three mandatory units, and select six optional units in areas such as:
Mandatory Modules:
- Exercise, health and lifestyle
- Preparing for a career in sport and physical activity
- Sports coaching
Optional Modules:
- Assessing risk in sport
- Technical and tactical skills in sport
- Sport development
- Leadership in sport
- Ethics and values in sport
- Principles of anatomy and physiology
Course delivery details
