Illustration Projects
In this course you will be encouraged to use illustration to explore or develop a personal illustration project.

Suitability - Who should attend?
Basic materials will be provided but you should bring a sketchbook. Those with more experience are welcome to bring your own items if you have preferences, such as good quality brushes and materials.
You do not need an idea for an illustration project, however you can bring one to the course for feedback and progression.
For the first session, you should bring in two examples of illustrated books that you admire either from your own childhood or from new research. If you do not have any, you could try charity shops or the library.

Training Course Content
What you will learn
In this course you will gain confidence to make your own illustrations and build on your personal body of illustration work.
You will learn:
- how to plan and make illustrations from scratch
- how to explore a brief or theme
- through practice, the notion of personal style and discover how to develop your own work
- how to organise your workflow as well as some basic visual literacy
- you will take part in friendly and supportive discussions as a group
Course delivery details
The learning atmosphere will be one of pressure-free creative and technical exploration with the encouragement of a practicing illustrator alongside your peers.
You will be encouraged to share your work with others, to discuss ideas and approaches in critiques.
