With the Foundation Pathway in Tourism, you can kickstart a career in this exciting sector as you learn the skills needed to progress. You will also be given the opportunity to gain English, Maths and IT qualifications alongside the programme.
Upon completion of the course, you can progress to a higher-level study programme at college, or onto an apprenticeship. We can give you advice and information to help you plan your next step, whether you would like to study another course in the college or somewhere else, or are looking to enter employment.
We will provide you with the opportunity to develop vital employability and independence skills through our learning companies. Our partnerships with external organisations and employers are central to giving you the tools you need to have a successful future.

The only entry requirement is that you have a successful interview with a member of the course team in order to ensure that we can fully meet your needs
We are looking for young people with an enthusiasm to learn and a desire to make progress. We want applicants to actively take part in keep warm activities set by teachers before starting in September
Training Course Content
This course will give you an introduction to travel and tourism and time to think about your future career. We arrange for support from our college Careers Advisers who are there to help you choose your next step.
The course will introduce you to the travel and tourism industries and you will study a range of topics including UK and European destinations, planning visits and customer service. Including the skills needed to start a career in the travel industry. Literacy, numeracy and IT will be developed alongside the vocational subject knowledge. These skills are necessary for all aspects of life and essential if you want to progress in study and work.
You also gain wider personal development skills vital for success in further study or employment. They include self-confidence, working with others, taking responsibility and time management. By the end of the course you will have benefited from a valuable insight in future study or careers open to you.
Course delivery details
You will take part in practical activities and assessment is continuous rather than by exam. There are numerous starting points throughout the year.
You will be assessed through creating a folder of evidence for each subject. You will be assessed at a level that suits you. Functional skills and GCSE maths and English will be assessed through external examinations.
You will gain a Vocational Certificate in Learning, Employability and Progression on completion of your studies.
On successful completion of the course, you may move on to a full-time Level 2 course, an apprenticeship or employment.
