Course description
Our foundation programmes meet the needs of a broad range of learners including those who may have disengaged from learning in the past or not achieved their full potential.
Level 1 foundation programmes are for learners who may have been disengaged from learning, underachieving, or unsure about their study choices.
Foundation – Tier 4: This programme is for learners who have been disengaged from learning or underachieving, and who want to try different vocational options. Learners will develop vocational and employability skills, including English and maths, digital literacy and citizenship learning. Work experience is part of this programme.
Foundation – Tier 5: This programme is for learners who need to develop their personal and social skills to achieve success. Learners will also take part in an introduction to a chosen vocational area at Level 1. The programme includes personal and social development, employability skills, work experience, English and maths, digital literacy and citizenship.

The only entry requirement is that you have a successful interview with a member of the course team in order to ensure that we can fully meet your needs
We are looking for young people with an enthusiasm to learn and a desire to make progress. We want applicants to actively take part in keep warm activities set by teachers before starting in September

Course delivery details
Foundation Tier 4:
This programme is for learners who have been disengaged from learning or underachieving, and who want to try different vocational options.

Foundation Tier 5:
This programme is for learners who need to develop their personal and social skills to achieve success. Learners will also take part in an introduction to a chosen vocational area at Level 1.
The programme includes personal and social development, employability skills, work experience, English and maths, digital literacy and citizenship.
You will be assessed through creating a folder of evidence for each subject. You will be assessed at a level that suits you. Functional skills and GCSE maths and English will be assessed through external examinations.
You will gain a Vocational Certificate in Learning, Employability and Progression on completion of your studies.
On successful completion of the course, you may move on to a full-time Level 2 course, an apprenticeship or employment.
