Suitability - Who should attend?
A minimum of four GCSEs at Grade 4 or above (A*–C), including English and maths. Alternatively, a Level 2 Diploma in a media-based qualification at Grade Merit or Distinction, plus English and maths GCSEs at Grade 4 (C) or above.
Where possible, applicants should have some practical media experience beforehand. If you are interested in a Level 3 programme and have alternative qualifications you would like us to consider, please contact us to discuss your circumstances.
All students will have their literacy and numeracy needs supported within the programme.
Training Course Content
What you'll learn
Option 1: Creative Media Production and Technology Route
The Creative Media Production and Technology route will focus on you developing industry-standard production processes, as well as technical and creative skills. You will learn how to plan, film and edit a range of productions. This could include TV and radio adverts, music videos, film trailers, documentaries, short films, campaign videos, etc.
You'll be introduced to a variety of pre-production, production, and post-production skills and utilise our industry-standard filming and recording equipment. When you complete this programme, you'll be prepared, confident and highly trained in Adobe Premiere, Adobe Audition and the use of professional equipment.
The programme consists of different units that focus on pre- and post-production techniques designed to prepare you for the creative media professional.

- Video editing techniques
- Sound recording
- Sound editing techniques
- Planning and research
- Scriptwriting
- Interactive media
Option 2: TV and Film Production Route
This course is perfect if you want to pursue a career in TV or film production, producing a range of exciting content in all areas of the TV and film industry.
Our highly experienced tutors will give you an overview of the TV and Film industries and build the skills you need to work confidently as part of those industries. This will involve study of professionally produced media products (films, TV shows, adverts, music videos, etc.) and you and your peers' own audio/visual productions.
You'll work on a series of individual and group assignments which may cover subjects such as:
- creative media production management
- understanding the television and film industries
- film and video editing techniques
- multi-camera techniques
- writing for television and video
- music video production
- advertisement production for television
- interview techniques for creative media production
- presentation techniques for broadcasting
Don't worry if you haven't chosen your preferred route yet. You will be able to discuss each of the different routes, and which one might best suit your career aspirations, as part of your application process.
In the first year of this course, you will study for the Diploma. Once that Diploma is successfully achieved, you will be invited to continue on to complete the full Extended Diploma in the second year of the course.
Continuing Studies
Most of our students progress to higher-education programmes at either degree or HND level. Many choose to specialise in a particular field once they move on to university, having experienced a range of options as part of their programme.
