More about Courses in Northumberland
Northumberland is the largest unitary area in England with the County Council based in Morpeth and a population of 300,000 people. Its name is derived from "Northumbria", referring to the old Anglo-Saxon kingdom which covered much of the North of England before the 10th century. The name directly translates as "the country north of the River Humber".
The diverse geography of the region has created a spectacular landscape. Northumberland National Park is designated as protected territory and is visited by over 50,000 foreign tourists and over 1 million British visitors yearly. The park covers an area of more than 1030 km², and spans between the border with Scotland and Hadrian's Wall. The tourism and hospitality industry is thriving in the region and generates an important percentage of the local income.

The local traditions in Northumberland have a strong Scottish influence, and some of them are unique to this region. Among these – the Clog dance, the rapper sword dance, and the Northumbrian smallpipe, a unique local instrument, quite different from its more famous Scottish namesake.
Northumberland and the North East England
Compared to the other counties in the North East region, Northumberland is less densely populated, due to the extended protected natural areas. The county contributes to the regional income by means of its growing hospitality sector, business services and light industries.
Professional training is available for Northumberland locals as open courses and distance learning programmes. Alternatively, in house training can be delivered nationwide by specialised course organisers. By sending an information request to the providers, you will receive more tailored details and customised quotes for your training.
