Appointed Person Course
The "appointed person" refers to an individual appointed by an employer to take charge of the first aid arrangements in a workplace where it has been assessed that a qualified First Aider or Emergency First Aider is not necessary. The role of the appointed person is to ensure that there are adequate first aid provisions in place and to take immediate action in case of an emergency until professional medical help arrives.
The Appointed Person Course is designed to provide training and guidance to individuals appointed to take on this role. The course typically covers the following topics:

Responsibilities of the Appointed Person:
- Understanding the legal requirements and responsibilities related to first aid provision in the workplace.
- Knowing the role and limitations of the appointed person.

Where an employer’s assessment of First Aid needs identifies that a First Aider or Emergency First Aider is not necessary, the minimum requirement on an employer is to appoint a person to take charge of the First Aid arrangements, including looking after equipment and facilities, and calling the emergency services when required.
