Course description
Traditionally, oral health care has centered around the removal of food debris and plaque from the gums and teeth. However, oral diseases persist as a significant global concern, impacting more than half of the world's population. Recent research highlights the substantial influence of an imbalance in the oral microbiota on oral health. Incorporating beneficial bacteria, known as probiotics, into an oral hygiene regimen has shown promise in addressing this issue. This brief review elucidates the mechanisms of action of oral probiotics and evaluates their effectiveness in managing various common oral conditions.
